CHICAGO, (DMA Conference & Exposition, Booth #1271) & Lincoln, Mass. - October 30, 2001 - Unica Corporation, a provider of award-winning enterprise marketing management solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Affinium Interconnect Modules.   Unica's Interconnect Modules are pre-packaged solutions for integrating the company's Affinium Suite with packaged operational CRM or transactional systems.  Initially available for Siebel, PeopleSoft CRM Solutions (Nasdaq: PSFT), BroadVision, and Clarify systems, Unica's Interconnect Modules leverage the company's unique Universal Dynamic InterconnectTM (UDI) technology to greatly simplify data access and integration.  UDI is the foundation of Unica Affinium's unique open architecture, which enables Affinium users to access the data sources they need and to easily integrate Affinium with popular CRM applications and legacy systems.

According to Aaron Zornes, executive vice president and director of Application Delivery Strategies, at the META Group, CRM solutions (e.g. Siebel and SAP) tend to be highly customized when implemented.  "Organizations need to carefully look at any canned integration solution, especially off-the-shelf adapters that may require custom coding," said Zornes.  "It is common for organizations to add additional tables, use fields in somewhat non-standard ways, and create new logical relationships between business components.  Changes to core business objects or database tables often require off-the-shelf adapters to be 'adapted.'"
